Is Stripe available in Argentina?

No. Argentina appears in no tier of Stripe's country page. Mercado Pago settles resident merchants in pesos, which is the underlying problem a US entity addresses.

What Stripe actually offers Argentina

Verified July 28, 2026

Stripe (direct)
Excludes

Argentina appears in no tier of Stripe's country page. Argentine entities cannot hold a Stripe account.

Stripe via US LLC
Accepts

Stripe supports US businesses holding an EIN through ordinary self-serve signup.

Mercado Pago
Accepts

Dominant local wallet and acquirer, settling resident merchants in Argentine pesos.

USD settlement locally
Excludes

Because of BCRA controls, most local providers will not settle a resident merchant in USD; where it exists it tends to be at a penalised rate.

Provider country policies change without public notice โ€” Mercury revised its prohibited list in 2024 and has amended it since. Treat this page as a starting point that was accurate on the date shown, then check the provider's own page before you apply. We would rather you verify us than trust us on something this consequential.

Peso settlement is the real constraint

Mercado Pago is a capable product, but it settles resident merchants in pesos, and BCRA controls mean most local providers will not offer USD settlement at all. For a business whose customers pay in dollars, that converts revenue into the currency you were trying to avoid holding.

Corporate controls did not end in 2025

The cepo was lifted for individuals in April 2025 โ€” the monthly purchase cap and prior-approval requirement went. Controls on companies are a separate regime, and BCRA leadership confirmed in May 2026 that removing them was not a near-term priority. Sources announcing the end of the cepo are usually describing the individual reform.

Substance matters more here than the processor question

Where an LLC has no genuine substance abroad and is run entirely from Argentina, the tax authority may look through the structure. Getting Stripe working does not resolve that. It is the question we would most want an Argentine founder to take advice on before forming.

Worth knowing before you buy

Argentina's FX regime has changed repeatedly and the individual-versus-corporate distinction is genuinely confusing. This page reflects the position as of 28 July 2026. Verify current rules before acting, and take Argentine advice on substance before you build revenue around the structure.

Common questions

Can I get Stripe with an Argentine company?

No. Argentina appears in no tier of Stripe's country page. A US entity with an EIN is the documented route to a Stripe account.

Is the cepo over?

For individuals, largely โ€” April 2025 removed the monthly cap and prior-approval requirement for personas humanas. For companies, no; corporate controls remain in force per BCRA in May 2026. Check which the source means before relying on any claim that the cepo has ended.

Will ARCA accept my US LLC?

It depends on substance. Where a company has no real presence abroad and is operated entirely from Argentina, the authority may disregard it and treat income as Argentine. This is fact-specific and the single most important question to put to an Argentine accountant.
