Business banking

Your company exists. Now give it an account.

Most business banking declines are not about eligibility. They are about the wrong provider for your country, a vague business description, or a missing document. We match you to a provider that onboards founders from where you live, assemble the documents in the form they want, prepare every answer before it is asked, and submit the application complete.

What it is

A complete, correctly prepared application to a provider that will actually take you.

Every fintech and bank publishes, or at least follows, a list of countries it will onboard owners from. Mercury has a public prohibited-countries list. Others have narrower or broader coverage, different expectations of monthly volume, and different appetite for e-commerce, software or services businesses. Choosing the provider that fits your country and your business before applying is most of the work. Applying to the wrong one is a guaranteed decline and a record of it.

The formation certificate the state issued. The EIN confirmation letter from the IRS — not a screenshot, the letter. The operating agreement showing who owns and controls the company. A passport and proof of address for each owner. A website or a clear description of what the company sells, to whom, and how much it expects to move each month. A source-of-funds answer that a compliance officer can accept. Each of these is a place applications fail when they are rushed.

Why it matters

Most declines are for incomplete applications, not ineligible founders.

A founder in a country on a provider's prohibited list applies anyway, because a video said that provider was the easiest. The application is declined on residency before anyone reads it. The founder applies to a second provider with the same thin business description and no EIN letter attached, and is declined again — this time on the application itself. By the third attempt the founder is discouraged and the story online is that non-US founders cannot get US accounts. They can. Most declines are for applications that were never going to be read, or that answered the compliance questions badly.

1Applied blindThe wrong provider for your country, a vague business description, a missing EIN letter. Declined, and the next provider sees the decline.
2With RazorFileThe right provider for where you live, every document in the format they want, every answer prepared before it is asked.

How it works

From your documents to account numbers.

We are not a bank and we do not open accounts. We prepare and submit the application, to a provider we have reason to believe will accept an owner from your country, in the form that provider wants. Approval is the provider's decision, made on its own policy, and it can decline without giving a reason. If your country is one no mainstream provider currently onboards, we will tell you that before you pay, not after.

What every provider asks for

Where founders bank

The provider depends on the passport.

Account and routing numbers land in your dashboard. Stripe payouts connect to the account in a few minutes. A debit card follows by post to whichever address the provider accepts — a US business address helps here. From then on the account is yours and the provider's; we are not a party to it, and we do not see your transactions.

Frequently asked questions.

Yes, with a US LLC, an EIN and a provider whose country policy includes where you live. Fintech providers do this remotely; most traditional banks still want an in-person visit. The provider match is the part that matters.

It depends on your country, what the business does and the volumes you expect. Mercury, Relay, Brex, Wise Business and Payoneer all have different country coverage and appetite. We recommend the one whose published policy fits you, and tell you why.

Yes. Every provider asks for the IRS EIN confirmation letter. If you formed with RazorFile, EIN assistance is part of your order; if not, our EIN service gets it for you first.

No, and be wary of anyone who says they can. The provider decides on its own policy and can decline without a reason. What we can do is make sure the application is complete, sent to a provider that accepts your country, and answers the compliance questions well.

Assembling and preparing the application takes a few days once we have your documents. Fintech providers often approve within days of a complete submission; follow-up compliance questions can add a week or two.

For some providers, yes — for the account's registered address and for receiving the debit card. It does not change the country rules, which follow where the owner lives. If it helps in your case, we will say so.
